Beautifully handcrafted Capiz shell wind chimes in bold and festive yellow, red, purple and aqua colors. They sparkle in the light, and when placed outside, they create a gentle tinkling sound. Measure approx. 7.5 wide x 19.5" length.

These capiz shells come from a fishing village in Java, where the shell artisans sustainably harvest the shells and shape them. All parts of the capiz (jingle oysters) are used; the meat is used for food, the main part of the shell for artisan crafting and the shell waste for fertilizer. Only fully-grown shells are harvested from the kelp beds, which provides more space and food source for the young ones to grow.
